THE IMPORTANCE OF CHOOSING THE ACADEMIC PATH BY THE IMPACT OF A SUMMER SCHOOL
Abstract
We intend, during this study, to identify the level of satisfaction of some participant’s students at a summer school, held two years ago, within The Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at the University of Craiova. The summer school was held over two weeks, being our first experience of this kind. The project, Be active in summer through sport (AG_21) was financed within the scheme of competitive grants for universities- summer programs bridge type (SGCU-PV) – ROSE. The project’s beneficiaries were 52 pupils, who came from disadvantaged backgrounds from the S-V of Oltenia Region, its aim being to reduce school dropout at the level of high school students. There were developed the activities specific to the faculty (courses/sportive activities/workshops) professional counselling and career guidance activities and personal development workshops, study visits and cultural, sportive and re-creative activities. At the project’s end, all participating pupils filled a satisfaction questionnaire regarding the way in which they perceived this experience, which also represented for them a first contact with the academic community in Craiova. These questionnaires were introduced and were processed by the help of SPSS program and the results were analysed in the present study. These are important for the improvement of the performance of similar projects in the future, that represents the good practices models as concerns attracting and informing as many as students as possible about the real opportunities that are created after higher education, adequate to their preferences and skills.
