Abstract

In recent years, both sports performance and sports sciences have progressed a lot. In this context, the assessment of coordination abilities is an extremely difficult action, because they are particularly complex and are found in a multitude of situations. The most significant techniques used to assess them are kinaesthetic sensitivity (measured with the kinesimeter) and the sense of balance. From a physiological point of view, postural balance is attributed to static kinesimetry and is achieved by the dynamics of mechanical tensions in agonistic and antagonistic muscles, which is voluntarily or automatically controlled (at the brain, cerebellum, medullar levels, etc.) by at least five feedback loops. This paper is a qualitative research on scientific studies identified in international databases. The qualitative assessment of scientific articles published in reference journals or submitted at international conferences is based on the PICO process. The research purpose is to identify new techniques for assessing and measuring balance ability in performance sports. Such a comprehensive perspective on scientific studies highlights the importance, complexity and effects of this ability on the general motricity of the body, but also on sports performance. At the same time, this qualitative analysis presents aspects specific to different studies and theoretical schools, as well as empirical approaches.
