Abstract

This article presents the problem of postmodernism in the Contemporary Society and what is the impact for the human life and for the Orthodox Church. Through a sort of affordability backed by the thirst for crazy survival and consumption, the postmodern society promotes a number of taboos that depersonalizes the human nature in its existential meaning. Drugs, exacerbated eroticism, pathological personality disorders, are the result of the lack of an alternative. Therefore, the principal role of the Christianity is to provide the answer to this through a way rethinking the religious, educational, psycho-social issues of the problems of the social and gender identity in the context of postmodernism. In the contemporary times, in the new epoch the Christian Church is now facing what some call the postmodern age, others call it post-Christian, while some others see it as being post-historical and post-cultural. This new epoch is an end of great ideas and dogmas from the past two centuries. Abandoning the truth the man seems to be embracing isolation turning into a self-sealed monad, a tough competitor, and a cruel professional. In this article I will analyze the challenges raised by postmodernism upon the peopleВ’s religious and spiritual identity.
