TO THE PROBLEM OF THE PROTECTION OF AN INDIVIDUAL AND SOCIETY IN THE CURRENT CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Abstract

The article analyzes the psychological phenomenon of job insecurity, the history of its study, since the 80s of the previous century, as well as its modern interpretations. By now two approaches have been defined: quantitative and qualitative. The structure of the phenomenon of job insecurity is represented by two components: cognitive (perception of the probability of job loss) and emotional (anxiety accompanying the perception of this possibility). The consequences of the experience of job insecurity are described as following: a decrease in job satisfaction, a weakened commitment to the organization, deterioration in health, somatic and psychological. Gender differences in the impact of conditions of job insecurity per person were noted. As a fundamental reason for job insecurity, there is violation of the balance in the distribution of power between the employee and the employer, its concentration in the hands of the employer, and the stateВ’s keeping away from solving these problems. At the level of an individual the threat of losing the job determines the strength of negative feelings and helplessness in changing the situation. To date, in many countries around the world a new class has been formed, called the precariat, characterized by unstable labor employment. Many authors consider it as a source of social tension.
