ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF ROAD PROJECT EFFICIENCY: I/18 LIPNIKY - HANUSOVCE NAD TOPLOU
Abstract
Developing and building of road infrastructure is one of the state priorities. At present, a need is not build only new roads, but also improve existing road network. Many of roads do not meet the requirements for traffic flow and safety. The roads with these conditions require reconstruction. The one of the roads with bad conditions is road section I/18, which is located between villages Lipniky and Hanusovce nad Toplou. The road section is not meet requires of traffic flow and road safety. The road section is located in the east part of Slovakia, specifically in Presov region. It has significant national and international character. The road section I/18 have unsuitable directional and elevation guidance and on the road are a lot of various defects. This road section is marked as a critical accident section. A proposed reconstruction of road section I/18 has length 7,8 kilometers. The road section was divided to 19 shorter sections according different kinds of construction works. The aim of the reconstruction is improving current situation of road I/18 with impacts to the road users and society. The economic evaluation was done in software HDM-4 (Highway development and management system), which aim was demonstrating efficiency of proposed solution by comparing with the zero variant. The zero variant represents state without construction works, which means, that in this variant were not spend capital costs.
