FESTIVAL OF URBAN CULTURE: EFFECTIVE WAYS OF PARTICIPATION OF URBAN COMMUNITIES IN THE LIFE OF A CITY
Abstract
The paper is aimed at studying festivals of urban culture as a form of participation of urban communities in the life of a metropolitan city. It is the residents, their experience, competences, creativity that determine the growth and development of any metropolitan city. This is why the urban environment and its quality are today tools which modern cities use in their struggle for human resources. A modern city should provide the development of a variety of functional content which meets the cultural, educational and spiritual needs of the population. These trends result in the saturation of a city and make it more complex as an object of management. Within this perspective, it is appropriate to talk about the increasing role of the category of co-management. It implies the active involvement of all actors and participants in the urban process of the formation of the urban environment and its management. Modern megacities focus on the development of communities. One of the ways to maintain the interest of communities towards the life and problems of a city is the festival of urban culture. This project form has the necessary resources to build communication with communities and integrate their activities into city-wide development. This study examines the structure, tools, organization of the festival of urban culture on the example of MUF Fest, the Moscow festival of urban communities.
