Abstract

In the present research paper an idea for optimizing the positioning of serving units in modern tourist resorts is proposed using some adapted applications of mathematics in economics. This material is a new step forward for both authors who have treated the topic in their publications in the past. The new idea is that the serving units are not fixed on line segments (e.g. streets) but are chosen from a given area or district (for example a triangle) or are selected from a number of previously given points. The logic is obvious – if the optimal point is chosen from all the points on a line segment this means that practically the whole street or some significant part of it is free and is awaiting the choice for the location of the serving unit. In practice this is not the case because some parts of the segment are already reserved. Methodologically the authors assume that some tourist objects (hotels, restaurants, etc.) are given (and fixed in advance) and they try to determine the best possible position of a serving unit (store, office, etc.) using a set of optimization problems. Finally, an exemplary approbation of the results with a real example is described. The calculations can be held by using various online tools so the final result is obtained without big difficulties and waste of time.
