PSYCHOLINGUISTIC TRAINING IN ENGLISH FOR ENHANCING COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS

Abstract

The author of the article studies the option of boosting students' motivation and improvement of their communicative competences in a group work, carried out in the form of a psycholinguistic training in the language of speciality, namely English. The phenomenon of a psycholinguistic training is viewed by the author as an acute modern pedagogical and psychological method of influence which helps perfect professional interaction, self-development, growth of leadership qualities and skills of cooperation. The training carried out in the language of the students' specialty (English) incredibly increased the participants' motivation to language learning, speaking skills enhancement, breaching the language barriers, working out positive experience towards themselves, their interlocutors and communication at large. In course of the training all the participants demonstrated all the stages of group dynamic, high level of performance and emotional involvement into the process. As the author marks out, it is the emotional involvement that positively influenced the participants' interaction, their self-realization and language barriers removing. The training program covered various linguistic and psychological methods such as: discussion (brainstorming, case study, synectics), role playing, business role playing, art-therapy and metaforization of the gained experience. The results of this experiment prove that such combined programs could be effectively applied in Higher education curriculum. The actuality of this psycholinguistic training is predetermined by the high requirements the society has concerning university graduates.
