Abstract

Sex education is absent in the curricula of Slovak education system, which is no longer sustainable. So far, public and professional debate on the introduction of sex education always ended in irreconcilable attitude of the churches and experts. The result was the unanswered question of sex education in order to avoid further conflicts. Our research focuses on creating the current and relevant concept of unsolved problem of sex education that would be acceptable for all parties in interest. To achieve this goal, the analytical, hermeneutical and synthetic methods were applied. Based on previous research, we came to formulation of the proposal, in which are figuring three basic pillars of ethical concept of sex education, that will suit Slovak society and take into account its cultural and religious background, system of values, as well as international documents and agreement of the Slovak Republic with the Holy See. We propose a model based on principles of three ethics: the care ethics, biblical and situational ethics. At the same time we suggest, after considering the relevant facts, to change the phrase or the designation of course from Sex education into the phrase Education towards sexual responsibility. We believe that created model could become for all parties in interest an acceptable, constructive and helpful in developing a relevant curriculum of the course Education towards sexual responsibility.
