CROSS-BORDER MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS IN THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY WITHIN EUROPEAN AREA

Abstract

Cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&As) must now be included among the fundamental mechanisms of industrial globalization. They are seen by many as a relatively fast and efficient way to expand into new markets and incorporate new technologies, know-how and better managerial techniques. Cross-border M&As facilitate the international movement of capital, goods and services, technology and the integration of affiliates into global networks. We analyze in the paper, the influences of the financial and trade liberalization in the EU and the functioning of the EMU on the realization of the cross-border M&As realized over the period 1998-2015 (database data created by the authors), among the selected states (16 source countries and 25 target countries) of the European territory through the generalized linear model in the healthcare industry.
