METHODOLOGY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESEARCH COMPETENCE IN BACHELORS OF TECHNICAL UNIVERSITIES DURING LABORATORY CHEMICAL PRACTICUM
Abstract
This article is devoted to the modernization of the laboratory practical work of chemical disciplines studied by future bachelors of the technical university with a view to strengthening the research-teaching link, creating conditions for the development of research competence of future engineers while attending junior university courses. On the basis of grounded by us earlier the concept and structure of the information-and-activity-based educational environment for the fundamental chemical training, the structure of a laboratory chemical practicum including three main stages has been proposed. At the initial stage, the practical work is carried out according to ready-made instructions. Here, students, while preparing for the actual laboratory work, use the virtual laboratory works and other electronic educational resources allocated in an electronic learning course in LMS. Then the laboratory work is carried out as training research in the context of the future professional activity. At the final stage, interdisciplinary laboratory work related to finding a solution for a specific professional task and making it possible to involve students into the research activity is carried out. In accordance with the proposed structure, a list and content of the laboratory works for students, future metallurgists, when studying the Chemistry and Chemistry of Metals disciplines have been developed. The results of the pedagogical experiment allow one to conclude that the consistent inclusion of the research activity components in the laboratory chemical practicum guarantees students assimilation of the methodological knowledge received during a course of lectures at a higher level, at the level of methodological skills, promoting the development of motivation of the students to the research activity. Attending conferences demonstrates how students understand the completed research structure, the ability to formulate valid conclusions and to defend them in public. A conclusion has been made about the effectiveness of the proposed approach to the modernization of the laboratory chemical practicum aimed at the development of the research competence of the bachelors of technical universities.
