DESIGN, IMPLEMENTATION AND QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING
Abstract
The increasing complexity of buildings and structures, the high rate of construction and the need to reduce design time, enhance internationalization and international cooperation in design and architecture, as well as many other factors triggered the rapid improvement of computer design tools. At present, this approach to design is commonly referred to as Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the related technologies and software tools are called BIM-technologies. All of the above logically leads to the conclusion that in modern conditions, new educational programs in Architecture and Civil Engineering, focusing on acquisition and development of competences in building information modeling are required. The paper discusses educational programs of Russian universities in Building Information Modeling, job opportunities and qualifications in the construction sector and the findings of the employersВ’ survey have been analyzed. The requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education (FSES HE), as well as the responses to the questionnaire will be used to improve the quality of the existing educational programs and those being developed. The analysis of professional standards in the field of architecture and construction made it possible to match the labor functions (actions) and professional competencies of FSES HE so at to obtain the required learning outcomes. The design of the educational program will be based on the required learning outcomes, corresponding to the FSES HE competencies, including those designed by the university to meet its own educational needs. The labor input to achieve the required learning outcomes will allow developing a quality curriculum for the educational program. The methodology for assessing the quality of the educational program in Building Information Modeling will be developed.
