Abstract

At present, in the energy sector, the development and introduction of clean, safe, affordable energy-efficient technologies requires significant efforts and long time even for small scale projects. Sustainable and efficient use of energy requires increasing the share of renewable energy sources, use of clean generation technologies. Most countries face the following energy problems: the use of environmentally harmful energy sources that pollute the atmosphere, periodic interruptions in the electricity supply, heating and other. United Nation concluded that the technological innovation is the only way to transfer power systems to increase energy efficiency. This article discusses the current trends of increasing the efficiency of the electricity sector. Authors describe the key areas of the energy industry. Study discusses an innovative stream of electricity development-intelligent power grid. The basic requirements of the development of smart energy are identified. Smart Grid analyzed from a technical and functional point of view.
