CULTURAL TOURISM HERITAGE - RENAISSANCE IN TRANSYLVANIA
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the cultural heritage in order to promote and develop cultural tourism in Transylvania. An important region of Romania with a population of different ethnic groups (Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Slovaks, Armenians, Roma) had a continuous multicultural background and history. Known as Transilvania (in Romanian language), Transylvania (English), Erdely (Hungarian), Siebenburgen (German), this region holds a cultural heritage of inestimable value. Starting with fortified churches, medieval fortresses, wooden churches, palaces and castles all crowns the architectural and cultural heritage of this part of Europe. These valuable objectives of the cultural and architectural heritage presented in the tourist itineraries became famous tourist attractions thus contributing to the development of the region's cultural tourism. The presented objectives lead us to the old times, crossing the medieval, Renaissance history, period of the 17th-19th centuries, all bearing the mark of the culture and civilization of those times, the traditions and religions of the inhabitants of these lands.
