HISTOMETRICAL STUDY OF THE MODIFICATIONS THAT OCCURS AT THE LEVEL OF THE GINGIVAL MUCOSA INDUCED BY DIFFERENT FIXED PROSTHESIS
Abstract
Biocompatibility of denture base materials is a key problem in modern dentistry. Different dental alloys induce different biological and structural modifications over the gingival mucosa. The aim of our study was to determine the structural modifications over the gingival mucosa induced by dental materials using the morphometrical analysis. Our study was based on 24 gingival mucosa biopsies analyzed using the classical histological method followed by morphometrical analysis using Lucia G 4.7 software. The software was created covering all criteria related to computerized morphometrical analysis. The headmaster of this team was Professor Mehedinti Teofil, Histology Department, Faculty of Medicine, “Ovidius” University, Constanta, Romania.
