SOCIAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH A PRISM OF TEMPORAL CHARACTERISTICS
Abstract
Considered one of the most actual in modern sociological science problems – social community and its main features, among which the temporal characteristics play an important role. The purpose of the article is to analyze the role of social communities in everyday life and discovering of their temporal structures. For proof of this thesis are used in the unity of three main approaches – communities, activities, and temporal. Basic methods of the research: the study of value orientations, attitudes, forms and types of activities, time spent on them (the method of time budget). Main results and conclusions are following. It is proved that the person in everyday life lives not primarily in the society, but in social groups or communities (family, work and study groups, groups of relatives and friends, associations and interest’s groups, sports teams, territorial and ethnic communities , and so on). The author thinks that the social community is really exists, empirically fixed wholeness of people united by socio-cultural, demographic, economic, ethnic, territorial, religious, political, professional and other foundations. Social communities are characterized by a number of their signs: relatively integrity, identification and self-identification, similar conditions of life and work and others. Temporal characteristics of the social community are very important among these signs. Social communities, their lifestyle and everyday practices are viewed through the prism of the time (temporal) characteristics of the basic kinds of activity. Focusing on such structural elements of social time, both working and non-working, learning and non-learning, free time, leisure. Lifestyle of social community is investigated as segmentation, differentiation in the way of activity, its temporal characteristics in separate elements (forms of activity and time spent on their realization) in the presence of deep inner connection between them. It is proved that the foundation of this way of life is the relationship of the main types of working and non-working activities, working, non-working and spare time. It is the objective necessity of providing conditions for the existence of social community, to meet the diverse needs of its members. Established that it is essential to the understanding of the practices of everyday life of the social community in the framework of the temporal characteristics of the main forms of activity and the fact that in Europe, called «Work – Life Balance» (WLB), i.e., a balance between work and lifestyle. Formula WLB finds today great dissemination and is associated with satisfaction the wide and growing range of needs of everyday life.
