THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATION IN DETERMINING ROMANIAВ’S MEDICAL PERSONNELВ’S SATISFACTION IN STATE AND PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

The recent imbalance in providing an adequate plan, training as well as human resource management for the medical institutions is affecting the proper function of the Romanian healthcare system. The present study intended to identify the satisfaction of Romanian medical work-force presently employed in private as well as state healthcare institutions. With this purpose, the study targeted the working environment of the two categories of institutions and focused on the relations and communications between health professionals belonging to the same medical unit or not, as well as their interactions with superiors namely: direct superiors, hierarchical superiors and managerial superiors. The research was conducted in two separate stages, each lasting 5 and a half months during which a total of 100 Romanian state medical workers and 100 Romanian private medical workers completed a two-part questionnaire to express the judgement concerning their source of satisfaction or dissatisfaction. The questionnaire not only presented the reader with scenarios of regular working activity but it also emphasized individual criteria that drive their work and focus along with the motives behind their choices. The findings entail the reasons why Romanian health professionals are yearning to leave their home land to conduct their practice in other engaging environments. Thus, the findings will (1) reveal how the communication and relation between workers can impact the level of satisfaction, (2) prepare an empirical foundation for future as well as suggesting managerial improvements concerning relations at all hierarchical levels and (3) improve medical human resource management.
