Abstract

One of the main vectors of the educational development in the digital age is to improve the quality of education and to increase the effectiveness of educational process by using new educational technologies and advanced teaching methods. A key role in this process remains for the teacher, who must master both in innovative pedagogical technologies (blended learning, collaborations, personalized training, etc.) and information technologies (MOOC platforms, learning management systems (LMS), systems for web conferencing or online broadcasting, audio and video hosting services, authoring tools for developing interactive e-learning resources). This paper explores approaches to motivating staff, discusses best practices of universities and other higher education institutions for motivating faculty, and identifies monetary and non-monetary incentives for motivating faculty to use new educational technologies. The system of motivational activities for teachers, proposed in this paper, considers levels of involvement into the use of new educational technologies. The authors describe a questionnaire designed to determine the actual zone of the development of facultyВ’s skills of using information and pedagogical technologies. This questionnaire was used to make a survey and the results of this survey become the basis for a mechanism of the phased introduction of motivational activities. The mechanism considers a prevalence of the levels of involvement into the use of new educational technologies in the educational process according to the surveyВ’s results.
