Abstract

The research study offers an analysis of the public opinion of citizens of the Slovak Republic focused on the results of the referendum vote in the United Kingdom in 2016, in which the British voters decided to leave their country of the European Union. The study also presents prevailing opinions, attitudes, preferences and values of the Slovak people on the possible impacts of Brexitis in Great Britain on Slovaks or on the future of the European Union. We used the questionnaire method in the research. The survey conducted by the Slovak public opinion research showed, among other things, that most of the citizens of the Slovak Republic surveyed did not consider the results of the popular vote on the United Kingdom´s appearance from the European Union as a singinifcant problem as presented by the mass media and politicians respectively. The majority of respondents do not think that the United Kingdom's brexit could have a negative impact on the citizens of the Slovak Republic and on the future of the European Union.
