Abstract

This work based on Romantic literature reflects the image of Jozef Bem as a romantic hero and a symbol of Polish-Hungarian friendship. Comparing the progress of the national literatures of this epoch, mainly the Polish and Hungarian one, and conditions of their development leads us to their overall conjunction of the 19th Century. In our paper, we use sources from history and literature and we try to put Jozef BemВ’s person into right context of Hungarian revolution set in years 1848/1849 during governance of Habsburg monarchy (in the 19th Century). Mainly we deal with works of poets as SГЎndor Pet?fi and Cyprian Kamil Norwid. Special importance is given to work of SГЎndor Pet?fi, because of his interest in TransylvaniaВ’s campaign alongside with Bem. Our research is based on comparing real facts with literal works including Jozef Bem. He is very interesting person of Central European area, he participated on uprising against Russians in the 1831, he was also the symbol of typical hero of Romanticism. His impact in Pet?fi poetry is still visible up to this days, they had excellent relations, moreover Bem was like a mentor for this well-known poet. In our paper we try to analyse the symbol of romantic hero which is still alive in Hungary and Poland. Relationship of these two countries is constantly above high standard, what we can see on the cultural and political field. Origin of these relations are in revolution of Habsburg monarchy and Jozef Bem is the symbol of polish support for Hungarian revolutionaries.
