QUALITY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF CHILD PRESCHOOL EDUCATION IN POLAND IN SOCIAL PERCEPTION

Abstract

The aim of this study is to define the image of contemporary preschool education in Po-land in perception of representatives of various social groups. Theoretic analysis of the issue was supplemented by empirical studies. The method of diagnostic survey was used accompanied with the technique of questionnaire. The study aimed at finding how the preschool education was perceived in Poland, what was its social reception and how it fulfilled the needs and expectations of contemporary society. The survey showed that preschool education in Poland was perceived as very important. Polish society is aware of the significance of preschool education for the development of children, in particular for the process of their socialization and development of school maturity. People pay also attention to supporting development of children at preschool age and equalling their developmental chances. Respondents underlined the meaning of the social image of preschool education, which was influenced by curriculum and or-ganization of the educational space in schools, both in social as well as material dimen-sion. An important aspect of the image of preschool education is social perception of pedagogical staff. The society expects high competences from the teachers, appropriate moral attitude, full professionalism, which manifests in proper attitudes towards the children.
