THE POSSIBILITY OF ESCAPING FROM TIME
Abstract
The intention of this paper is to bring the possibility of escaping from the time according to Mircea Eliade. It aims to bring options how the archaic man trying to escape from the profane time to sacred time. At the same time we try to apply knowledge about the escaping from the time and for today's man and reflect them in the light of postmodernism. Through selected examples from the arts and the media we would point out escape time in postmodernism and its relevance for humans. Possibility of escaping from time are transformation and elimination. Transformation is a reshaping of one type of time to another. In our case we mean the transformation of profane time to sacred time. Elimination of time means suppression of profane passing of time, which is characterized by its linearity. Elimination is trying to suppress the linear continuum of time and extricate man. Man then participates in the endlessness without temporality. In view of the postmodern we find transformation and the elimination of time in a different meaning. They are still present in our daily experiencing, but in a other for than they had to archaic humans. New meaning have both of them - transformation and elimination. Similarly, we find new forms of escaping from the time which are the media and the Internet.
