Abstract

Problem of extremism in modern society is one of the most important, because thanks to modern level of technical development, borders and distances start to be very relative definitions, and humanity still haven’t worked out mechanisms of painless coexistence in the situation of open wide borders. Modern Russian prose gives rich material for regarding and classification of theme of extremism. Being largely a mirror of the society, literature allows to select and analyze its most evident and painful appearance. We may define and speak about religious, political and sport extremism. All types of extremism mentioned above are united by intolerance to others’ position and radical forms of views defending. The subjects of research are texts of D. Gutsko “House in the Armageddon”, Z. Prilepin “Sankya”, S. Shargunov “Bird influenza”. In the first one we can observe the mechanisms of religious extremism, in the second and third ones – the national type. The object of the research is the problem of extremism as one of the factors of the modern society. Modern Russian writers, who continue traditions of XIX century realistic school, feel deeply the challenges of modern society and the answers that seem to be the easiest and the most obvious for the sidelined part of the society. Teenagers, young men, those who dream of social justice, or often those who just dream not to be alone and find associates in this disunited and problem covered world occur to be in the risk zone. Such people are easy to be used. This is probably the main problem: those who really can change this world involuntarily become its main danger and the destruction weapon. All authors regarded in the article in a varying degree come to the conclusion that honorable motives, high ideals become to be the means of manipulation for provident moneymakers, and extremism in this way becomes one of the most effective weapons in the present-day fight for power and authority. Someone finds the way out, someone dies physically or spiritually, but it is obvious that discussing the nature of modern extremism is one of the ways to fight it.
