THE EFFECT OF SOMATIC PARAMETRES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF COORDINATION ABILITIES IN 7- 8 -YEARS OLD CHILDREN
Abstract
The study was supported from the grant project VEGA 1/0625/16 “The effect of physical activities on the development of motor abilities in integrated children with behavior disorders”. We have extended knowledge about motor coordination of 7 and 8 years old children by determining correlations between somatic parameters and total motor coordination expressed as the converted MQ scores. The somatic parameters measured included body weight, body height, and BMI. To determine the levels of motor coordination, children performed tests included in the KTK test battery. Statistical measures used were arithmetic mean as a measure of central tendency and standard deviation as a measure of variation. To determine the normality of distribution of data collected we used the Shapiro-Wilk test. To assess significant differences between girls and boys in KTK tests across ages studied, we used the t test for independent samples. Correlations were determined using the Pearson’s correlation coefficient. We have found that none of the sexes prevails in KTK tests. There was a small number of overweight and obese children.
