Abstract

Linguistic nomination is of great interest to modern science. One of the key problems of theoretical linguistics has been those of the theory of nomination. In the study of lexical and semantic development of the language among important issues are secondary naming, including words with transferred meaning, which contribute to the accuracy, expressiveness and figurative transference of semantic information. Expansion, narrowing of the lexical meaning of a word and its semantic potential are closely related to the study of a word. In this paper, dealing with a well-known phenomenon of the secondary naming is caused by the fact that in the Yakut contemporary linguistics this aspect has not been investigated enough. Linguistic nomination is a naming process in which linguistic elements correspond to the objects they designate. One and the same object can be named differently depending on which characteristics constitute the basis of these names. Nomination laws are expressed not only in ready-made means of the language, but also in each speech act, where the object naming occurs on the basis of its features. Secondary naming means, such as metaphor, metonymy and antonomasia, is the most productive ways of forming secondary proper names. This paper considers word polysemy, the primary and secondary naming in modern Russian, as well as the views of linguists on the definition of the concept of secondary naming in the Yakut and Russian languages, and a brief historical background of the study of metaphorization of phraseological units.
