INVESTIGATION INTO THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN AESTHETIC COEXISTENCE OF THE MATERIAL ENVIRONMENT IN THE PROBLEM-BASED TEACHING/LEARNING PROCESS
Abstract
The interaction between the integrated management of the issues regarding the policy of urban architecture and the development of the design of a material environment is a topic important to be explored in order to attain environmental, economic and social sustainability. To achieve coexistence and harmony, innovative teaching methods have become an important instrument. The problem-based teaching/learning method (PBT/LM) is one of the techniques analysed for understanding its peculiarities and applications. The goals of the article are to reveal practical procedures for PBT/LM using a variety of concepts of developing urban structures at the macro level and to create the design of the material environment at the local level. While based on the attitude of the academic community, the problem-based learning method can be an effective and meaningful tool that would help with developing spatial structures of the city and the design of the material environment.
