IDENTIFICATION OF BARRIERS IN THE INTERDISCIPLINARY PRODUCTION PROCESSES OF THE MEDICAL TOOLS
Abstract
Medical tools are often treated as a supporting on the background of the treatment and care of the patient. Their importance is overlooked because the knowledge and skills of the doctor to the forefront. But medical tools has an important means for the recovery of a patient's health from a specialist point of view. Work tools may have a significant impact on the way the operating techniques or other treatments affect the human body. In addition, the limited work space and tools in themselves affect the physician's position by forcing the musculoskeletal positions. Medical instruments, with particular emphasis on surgical instruments as products, are the result of interdisciplinary teams work. The creation of the tool involves the cooperation of specialists in various fields of science and industry. Comprehensive product approach involves the emergence of communication barriers and activities related to the stages of design, construction and manufacturing. The quality of the finished product and the associated exploitation depend on the skills and means of overcoming the barriers and problematic situations. It is therefore necessary to have a feedback link between product life cycle stages, such as exploitation and design and construction. The product is burdened with a large number of intermediate factors that condition its final shape. This work based on quality research, such as: direct observation and interviews with participants of life cycle of surgical tools (such as designer/manufacturer, end user – surgeons and nurses). As a result of the research, the main categories of barriers have been identified in interdisciplinary collaboration between scientific and executive teams. Quantitative research directions have also been identified to verify and assess the impact of problem situations on the various life-cycle phases of medical products.
