USING A CONSTELLATION OF PERSONAL CAPABILITIES IN DEFINING INDUSTRY 4.0. SOFT SKILLS

Abstract

The technology and its impact disturb life in a spectacular way both at social and professional levels, determining a new approach to the training and implicitly the selection of the human resources. New challenges appear on the horizon. As a result of technological developments and the growth of the knowledge society's role in areas beyond the classical labor market categories, the leaders of industry have introduced the "soft-skills" paradigm that is supposed to replace the old paradigm of "experience." This change of paradigm involves moving the emphasis from "experience in the field of minimum N years" on having a set of abilities and capabilities called soft skills. The main objective of this article is to design a unitary concept in soft skills by drawing the map of abilities and personal qualities - soft-skills appropriate for Industry 4.0 requirements. The employee profile of "modern times" implies a "hard" melting with "soft" skills: competences acquired during the professional training and a constellation of skills and personal qualities. The research described in this paper focuses on the identification of scales relevant to these challenges of the new industrial environment by applying psychological assessment tools to develop a skills map.
