ACOUSTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF CONCRETE SLABS

Abstract

This article presents preliminary results of research into the acoustic insulation of internal concrete slabs. The analyses were designed to answer the question whether concrete slabsВ—as a material commonly found in architectureВ—can also serve as an element that improves acoustic comfort in the room. Concrete is a building material that is being consistently used in architectural spaces, not only as a structural element, but more commonly as a decorative element in the form of lining. Theoretical studies indicated that the use of concrete slabs of 5 cm thickness, interchangeably with a dedicated plaster, increases theoretical properties of internal walls considered in the study by an average of 6 [dB].
