SKILLS AND EMPLOYABILITY OF HIGHER EDUCATION GRADUATES FROM ROMANIA AND BULGARIA: THE EMPLOYERS' PERSPECTIVE
Abstract
The paper focuses on employers' need for skills by assessing their perception on the importance of various skills required from higher education graduates, as well as on the satisfaction about the current level of different skills. Also the paper aim to sketch the future and to identify the importance of different skills in the recruitment process in the long run. We propose a comparative analysis in between Romania and Bulgaria, taking into account also specific companies' characteristics. We base the paper on the findings and data set of Flash Eurobarometer 304: Employers' Perception of Graduate Employability. In the end we discuss what employers expect from universities to take in order to improve the employability of higher education graduates in times of rapidly changing social and economic environment. Are companies asking for more sector specific skills or for more transversal and general skills?
