Abstract

Professional communication of the professionals in social work and healthcare can be seen as a system based on internal language resources needed for an effective interpersonal interaction in the professional-professional and professional-client (patient) interpersonal systems and focused on exchange of professional information and providing of social or healthcare assistance to the persons who need this. A precondition for the success of the professional communication is the formation of a positive communication attitude. The effective communication and interaction with other people depend to a large extent on the characteristics of the personВ’s communication attitude. Communication attitude is in the basis of the requirements guaranteeing the success of the interpersonal communication which in the general case includes also compatibility of partners as communicating parties; their adequate perception of the meaning and assessment aspects of the information exchanged and the influence through persuasion. With regard to the social work and healthcare where the professionals are building their career in the person-person system, the communication attitude should by all means suggest a psychological readiness for positive reactions with regard to the subject-object interaction. Based on the above, subject of this article is the study of the communication attitude of students - the future social workers and medical assistants. The research was conducted among students in the Social Work and Medical Assistant full-time programmes at the Faculty of Medicine, Trakia University, Stara Zagora.
