Abstract

Informatization changes the world of the contemporary organizations. They seem more and more dependent on its information system infrastructure. On the one hand IT can increase the efficiency of the organizationВ’s management and improve general organizational efficiency, on the other hand it can cause the problems with the security of the information flow or generate risk of key data leak. In that context, IT reliability is considered as one of the critical factor required for modern organizationВ’s efficient and safety functioning, and especially for achieving the business continuity in information age. It seems also to play a fundamental role in Business Continuity Management (BCM). BCM aims to create an organization's resistance to the occurrence of threats. Its essence comes down to the constant detection of various types of risks that may disrupt the existing basic activity of the organization and its skillful handling, i.e. management with the purpose of ensuring that the business can continue if risks materialize. In the face of the above the notion of IT reliability is discussed in the paper as a potential factor determining the achievement of benefits of BCM implementation in the organization. The study is based on a diverse research workshop. The method of critical analysis of the literature is used, as well as the questionnaire survey - the author use their original research questionnaire. The proposed theoretical framework is verified empirically on the sample of 563 organizations operating in Poland. Statistical analysis of data obtained in this way are conducted with the use of the IBM SPSS Statistics package. The purpose of this paper is to identify the relations between the IT reliability and the benefits from BCM implementing.
