SHADOW BANKING ISSUES: META-ANALYSIS USING A NETWORK APPROACH

Abstract

This article presents an analysis of literature on shadow banking. The attention of researches on shadow banking topic have increased exponentially after the global financial crisis. Despite of the fact that this concept has been used for over ten years, there is no one common conception and definition of it. The innovations, global challenges like artificial intelligence, big data, etc., makes this topic very important for regulators, economists, researchers in order to make the right decisions and impact in their operating field. The growing number of publications encourages to make deeper analysis on the main features, understandings etc. of shadow banking. The aim of the research is to identify the key elements underlying the shadow banking concept. The Scopus database is chosen to identify the studies which analyse the aspects of shadow banking in the period from 2008 to August 2018. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) is used to make a meta-analysis of scientific articles. The network approach is also used in order to identify main features, aspects and interconnections between them. The results of the research have important issues: they will help to understand main points of shadow banking conception, to purify the understanding of it.
