THE POTENTIAL OF THE SUNFLOWER: SYNERGY OF SCIENCE AND PAINTING FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The sunflower has significant potential in terms of agrarian production, painting, and sustainable development. The paper discusses the potential of the sunflower as an opportunity for food security, energy efficiency, ecological balance protection, and diversification. The aim of the study is to identify the potential of the sunflower for sustainable development. The research also considers the demonstration of an innovative approach to the synergy of science and painting in terms of shaping society’s vision toward agrarian resources, enhancing ecological responsibility, and deepening cultural self-awareness. The paper discusses the potential of the sunflower as an opportunity for food security, energy efficiency, ecological balance protection, and diversification, and briefly compares it with other agricultural commodities that support sustainable development. The paper analyzes statistical data about the sunflower; in order to evaluate the practical manifestations of the synthesis of science and painting, Van Gogh’s "Sunflowers" and other samples of painting, as well as Georgia's “yellow sunflower fields,” are discussed. A qualitative study was conducted; in order to reveal the main findings, the obtained responses were grouped and analyzed by topic. The research presents a discussion on the issue, provides a summarizing conclusion, and defines future directions of the study.
