Abstract

This article views the problems connected with the influence of globalization processes and new information and communication technologies on the transformation of cultural codes systems, the increase of intensity of adverse impacts of social anomie, the marginalization of culture, the destruction of the foundations of collective identity. In the present context the authors analyze new trends of civilizational development of society, having a direct impact on the transformation of value orientations of mass, youth consciousness towards emerging pragmatic- and individualistic-oriented mindsets. In this connection the authors analyze the role of cultural codes in streamlining social processes and preserving the integrity and ethnic and cultural uniqueness of national cultures; they argue that language, symbols and other semiotic systems along with traditions, customs and rites, architectural constructions and sacral works of art, as well as norms and rules of behaviour constituted the complex of ethnicitiesВ’ cultural codes and were the leading characteristics of ethno-cultural identity and national cultures, used in the historical and cultural development of nations as social mechanisms of spiritual continuity and preserving the integrity of societies.
