PLAGIARISM AS A COMPONENT OF SCIENTIFIC FRAUD
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze such a phenomenon as plagiarism and possible measures, which are taken to combat it. Considering the definition В«scientific fraudВ» we assume that the main components of this phenomenon are plagiarism and falsification of research data. Today plagiarism and appropriation authorship had become quite common phenomena. Plagiarism as a phenomenon has a fairly long history but not at all times and not in all states the practice of such act was denounced. Today in many countries of the world, including Russia, attempts are being made to deal with plagiarism. In some cases, such actions are justified, but too often under the auspices of the struggle against plagiarism any political or commercial issues are resolved. The arsenal of permissible means aimed at stemming and preventing plagiarism is quite extensive and includes following: various testing programs, for instance, in Russia, there is service "Antiplagiat", the examination of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation for candidate and doctoral dissertations for unacceptable borrowing, public organizations and groups which are identify plagiarism in scientific work (in Russia has been active "Dissernet "). But, nevertheless, none of these means does not solve the problem of combating plagiarism definitively. Even despite the fact that there is criminal responsibility in many countries for copyright infringement, i.e. plagiarism, under certain conditions ((amount of damage, extent of damage, etc.).
