COGNITIVE AND INFORMATIVE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT PUBERTY OF CZECH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Abstract
Puberty is a phase in which complete reproduction ability is attained. This phase can be described as a substantial hormonal process of physical changes related to changes of psyche in full realization of one’s own personality [6],[14]. Puberty is an important element of sex education [8][9] as well as a significant part of complex education of children in 21st century [8][9][10][15]. Puberty is a normal display of human development. The many changes in this phase of life influence not only the individual, but his surroundings as well. All children need to be prepared for this period of life appropriately and in time [8][9], i.e., to be prepared for all changes, relationships and connections related to this phase. To be prepared for puberty in time means, that children are to attain required knowledge about it before the puberty itself starts, in the phase of prepuberty [6][14] when they frequent the elementary school.
