ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF TEACHING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CIVIC SKILLS A PILOT STUDY ON HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS
Abstract
In a world of perpetual transformation, the awareness of social responsible education gains valuable meaning for higher education institutions which have the mission to frame and disseminate knowledge related to ethics, social responsibility, and sustainable practices. The paper aims to investigate the effects of teaching activities in social responsibility and civic skills, and to assess the outcomes of an intensive study programme (ISP) in this topic, designed and tested in UPB, during five teaching and learning days, on June 2017. The methodology of the research paper consisted of a secondary literature research on sustainable developments concerns and current issues related to adopting responsible business conducts by considering economic, environmental and social aspects. The survey flow was defined to embrace the characteristics, level of understanding and expectations of learners attending to the ISP. Considering the research findings, the authors shared their views on the benefits of developing educational components needed to increase the mass of good quality educational contents, applications and collaborative resources to promote responsible business conduct, active citizenships, and equity values at all levels.
