MUSLIM EDUCATION AS A FACTOR OF REDUCING RADICALIZATION OF THE MUSLIM UMMAH IN TATARSTAN
Abstract
The article, written on the basis of the results of participant observation, analysis of documents of Muslim educational institutions, publications of the Muslim organizations of the post-Soviet Tatarstan, periodicals, secondary research, describes the development of the modern system of Muslim education in Tatarstan through the prism of use of its capacities in countering the spread of the ideas of radical movements. The author analyzes the structure of the religious (Islamic) education in the region. There is also a research of the efficiency of the system of Muslim education as a mechanism to reduce conflict situations in the Muslim community of the Republic. The author highlighted the problems that the Muslim educational institutions are facing. It is concluded that with a proper functioning of the system of Muslim education it can strengthen the influence of civil society on prevention of extremism, that is based on Islam and radicalization of the regional Muslim community, as well as on preservation of an interfaith dialogue.
