PERSONAL TRAITS AND MOTIVATION OF STUDENTS OF COLLEGE OF ART
Abstract
The article is devoted to the research of personal traits and motivation of students of a college of art (organizational and performing activities). The method of the empirical study was a psychological test (Aspiration Index questionnaire by T. Kasser, R.Ryan; test of creativity by N.F. Vishnjakova, The Traits Personality Questionnaire 5 (TPQue5)). The study was held in Novosibirsk Region College of Culture and Art. The sample includes 78 students of directing (students-directors) and choreographic (students-dancers) departments, 40 of them - students of the director's department, 38 - students of choreographic department at the age of 16-20 years, mostly female. The mathematical method was realized with Mann-Whitney U-test. It was found, that students-directors in comparison with students-dancers have more expressed components of self-esteem of creativity, trusting, self-control, forethought, tension, emotionality, and students-dancers have more expressed perseverance, dreaminess, artistry, the importance of wealth motives and health/fitness motives. It means, that students-directors have underdeveloped professional suitability, because tension and emotional instability can provoke conflicts and stresses during interacting with people. The motivation of choosing a profession for students-dancers is not adequate, since it belongs to the group of external motives of professional activity, but perseverance and artistry combined with an importance of health motives can be the basis for professional development.
