Abstract

The inclusion of the elderly in the community as equal members and providing opportunities for the elderly to participate in work related activities is one of the main tasks of modern society. The goal of the study was to estimate the participation of elderly people in activities related to the work or volunteer activities. 120 examinees from 65 to 93 years of age who are users of centers and homes for the care of the elderly participated in the study. The study used a sociodemographic questionnaire and selected particles from PASE questionnaire and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire to assess the estimation of working ability in elderly persons and the level of participation of elderly persons in activities related to work or volunteer work. In accordance with the set goals, this research established that the elderly people do not participate in activities related to work or volunteer activities but they estimated their working capabilities within the framework of 50 do 75% scale maximum as well as satisfaction with their financial income. This research is pointing to the importance of the development of target interventions for the inclusion of elderly persons into a wider social community through working activities.
