FOLK RIDDLE AND CULTURE
Abstract
Currently folklore genres are actively researched. Their study exposed the various aspects of folklore . There are lexical, syntactic aspects of genres of folk arts analysis. Also cultural component is studied. Cultural aspect is believed to be of great importance, as it reflects the way people used to perceive surrounding reality hundreds of thousands of years ago. This article analyzes riddles in English and Russian . Comparative study is believed to reveal similar and distinctive qualities both in terms of building puzzles and in terms of cultural beliefs underlying the riddle. Firstly we analyze expressive means of language. It should be noted that such means are typical practically for all genres of folklore. We elucidate it the following: since the early development of society all surrounding objects of inanimate nature has been presented as animate. This explains, for example, the use of metaphor and personification. Epithets, which are often used in folklore associated with an attitude which has been formed toward a particular subject of reality, since the epithet gives the text imagery. Also in riddles often contrasting one action to another under certain conditions is used . This fact alone demonstrates the basics of logic, which began to arise in the minds of people. Therefore, it is emphasized that people many years ago noticed the relationship of certain events, their causal relationships. It has been found that Russian and British mysteries have similarities at the level of semantics, and at the level of vocabulary. This fact testifies the fact that the original presentation about the reality of these cultures had similar moments. Also It has been revealed that both in Russian and English riddles there are distinctive features that reflect the specifics further development of the folklore genre and culture in general.
