INVOLVING RESOURCES OF CULTURAL MATERIAL PATRIMONY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM AND LOCAL ECONOMY IN MARAMURES, ROMANIA
Abstract
Cultural-religious tourism, as part of cultural tourism, seems to register an increase today, especially with regard to unholy/ secular monuments with a special historical load or with special architecture. This category includes the northern area of Romania, Maramures, where there are not less than 8 wooden churches in the UNESCO Heritage. Besides these there are other religious monuments. Using this monument from the touristic point of view requires an entire infrastructure. Thus, the study aims to find the necessary resources for the development of another sector of activity to help the recovery of the local economy. Methodologically there have been followed a series of steps that have meant accepting and supporting the population in terms of the development of tourism in areas where monuments registered in the national heritage are still present. Therefore, methodologically empirical methods have been used. The questionnaires were applied to residents, and the results show changes from one year to the next, the trend being positive. The questionnaires were implemented within 4 years, 2013- 2016. After applying the questionnaires in order to analyze the acceptance and support of the tourism idea by the population, the results indicate a rapid adaptation to local economic changes. At the same time, statistical data are analyzed as well as the evolution of the number of companies that have tourism as their activity object, and of the number of employees in tourism, from the localities where these monuments are still present. The results of the study will come to support tourism, especially cultural tourism. They indicate on the one hand the theoretical desire of the population in the development of tourism, on the other hand, can not be seen economically materialized.
