AUDIOVISUALITY OF LITERATURE. THE INSTANCE OF DETECTIVE STORIES FOR CHILDREN IN DEVELOPING READING COMPETENCES
Abstract
This reflection is an attempt to determine the scope of audiovisuality research in literary text, taking into account theories of connection of literary work with media coverage. It is accompanied by transferring the focus from adaptive thinking (including one medium into another) to transmedia one, where literariness and audiovisuality function on similar rights. Such move is based on an assumption that a context for created new literature is no longer another written text but a media event or an audio-visual communication. As a consequence we cannot even talk about intertextuality, but we need to talk about inter- or transmedia, containing multi genre phenomena. It reflects on contemporary literature, also for the youngest ones who grow up in a new audiovisual convention, generating different than earlier possibilities and needs. On the instance of detective stories for children, whose current catalogue is growing proportionally according to increasing interest in them and which combine film and literary narrative, the article draws attention to the necessity of different than before developing reading competences of contemporary pupils.
