DECISION ON LOCATION OF A NEW WAREHOUSE FOR THE REVERSE LOGISTICS COMPANY
Abstract
This paper deals with proposing and implementation of a localization model as the basis for making corporate decisions if and where to build a new warehouse for reverse flows of dangerous waste intended for further reprocessing and returning back to production through the central warehouse of the company. The issue is to add a new warehouse to the existing network of already established regional warehouses to optimize the transport costs and to enhance services provided to the given part of the market. A suitable position for a new warehouse was identified on the basis of the internal data of the enterprise, which included positions of the suppliers of bought back raw materials, including quantities of bought back raw material types and the number and length of journeys made to individual suppliers within the last calendar year. The paper describes the used model for positioning of one facility, including an analysis of the problems faced when it is used. The model was chosen for the solution on the basis of the performed research and on the basis particular conditions of an enterprise, as a tool helping an enterprise to make the right decision on location of a new warehouse within the existing network so that it satisfies the corporate needs as much as possible.
