SYSTEM OF TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION OF ADDICTED PEOPLE IN POLAND
Abstract
The aim of the present study is to bring problems of treatment and rehabilitation of addicted people in Poland closer to the reader. The paper was aimed to indicate changes that have occurred in the last year and those which are possible to be implemented. Due to the increasing tendency for people becoming involved in drug abuse, the study was focused mainly on this social problem. It should be emphasized that the problem of addiction affects both women and men, whereas 'market' saturation in cities has led to a dynamic increase in drug dealing problems and substance abuse in rural areas. This worrying phenomenon, changes in health-related needs of society and transformations in the drug dealing market make it necessary to modify the previous system of treatment and rehabilitation of addicted people. To face these challenges it is critical to develop innovative preventive and therapeutic programs and to implement new organizational models. Furthermore, the need for changes in legal regulations is more and more frequently emphasized.
