ASSESSMENT OF THE ACTIVITIES OF LARGE, MEDIUM AND SMALL BUSINESS IN THE REGIONS OF RUSSIA
Abstract
The paper considers the problems of methodical approaches to the assessment of the activities of large, medium and small businesses in the region and determining their role in the social and economic development of the region. Few attention is paid to the analysis of the activities of enterprises in regional studies, during developing strategies at the federal and regional levels and while working out the regional policy measures. The methodology for assessing the activities of complex of enterprises in the region, based on the calculation of the integral index, was proposed in the study. The information for the calculation of indicators is based on the statistical data of the Federal Service of State Statistics of Russia and the professional database of the Interfax agency “SPARK”. The performed calculations allowed to reveal significant differences in the activity of large, medium and small businesses in the regions of Russia. Enterprises of depressed regions are characterized by low values of the gross regional product per one enterprise, turnover per enterprise, share of the corporate profit tax in the total amount of taxes. Demographics and financial condition of enterprises are also less favorable. The share of large and medium-sized enterprises in such regions is significantly lower than the national average, while in Russia the regions where large business enterprises are located are much more efficient. In the ranking of regions on the index of strategic stability of enterprises these regions occupy the last ranks. The study allowed to determine the typological features of the activities of enterprises in depressed regions, to show that there is a close relationship between the activities of enterprises in the region and the level of its development. Based on the analysis of the state of strategic stability of enterprises in the region, it is possible to develop measures to form an effective complex of enterprises in the region, to formulate measures for state regulation of enterprises, and to adjust strategic directions for Russia's spatial development.
