SOME PECULIARITIES OF THE DYNAMICS OF URBAN POPULATION OF THE REPUBLICS OF BASHKORTOSTAN AND TATARSTAN
Abstract
The article discusses some features of the placement and dynamics of the urban population of the republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan from 2000 to 2017. The paper highlights the main factors influencing the pace of development of the urban population in the two economically developed republics of Russia in the early XXI century. The role of the transport factor is revealed and the value of the Volga river with its large tributaries in the change of the urban population in the study area is justified. The study shows that migration plays an important role among the factors that influence urbanization processes in different regions of the country. The number of urban settlements and their location in the territories of the republics are different. A large number of such urban settlements are located in Bashkortostan. The article presents a comparative analysis of not only large cities of the two regions, but also small towns and urban settlements. On the territory of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan there are a large number of small towns and urban settlements. As a result of comparison different levels of urbanization in two regions are defined and the reasons of different dynamics of growth of the urban population in different years are specified. Theoretical (analysis, comparison), empirical, prognostic (mathematical statistics) research methods were used most of all to solve the problems.
