ROLE OF THE VERBS IN THE REPRESENTATION OF PERCEPTUAL WORLDVIEW IN THE NOVEL "THE LUZHIN DEFENCE" BY VLADIMIR NABOKOV

Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the novel by Vladimir Nabokov "The Luzhin Defence" as a reflection of the sensual picture of the world of the writer himself. The scope of the study is limited by the verbs of perceptual vocabulary of the novel. Notable, this work has brought the writer world fame, in addition of interest is the sensual world of the protagonist, which is very similar to the worldview of Nabokov, which allows the analysis of perceptive sensations of the main character to form an idea of the specifics of the perception of the world of the author of the work. In the field of the study were lexical units and lexical combinations, verbalizing the three leading modes of perception: vision, hearing, touch. The conclusion about the hierarchy of perceptual information channels was obtained using the statistical methods while analyzing the text. The analysis showed that sensory vocabulary is an integral part of the artistic system of Vladimir Nabokov. In many respects we can say the individual patterns of the perception worldview, characterized by high degree of aesthetic and emotional impact of the author's works on the reader, are important. Nabokov's ethics is based on the realization of the greatness of man; the only way to resist the cold hostile world is the ability to aesthetic perception and fixation of reality. Thus, in the first place in the frequency of use marked verbs of vision, the second - the verbs of hearing, and the third - the verbs of touch.
