TECHNICAL MEANS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPATIAL ORIENTATION IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Abstract
Spatial orientation is one of the parts that are heavily affected by the visually impaired. The ability to orientation and move around is a key skill for visually impaired individuals and needs to be trained from a very early age. Modern times and the associated development of different technologies allow individuals to become increasingly self-sufficient. Both conventional rehabilitation and compensatory procedures and aids are used to compensate for loss of vision. We would like to focus on introducing the issue of technical and non-technical measures, serving visually impaired people to relieve the fear of free movement and, subsequently, to facilitate independent orientation. Utilities, technical equipment and their practical use will be related to the location of the Czech Republic. The contribution was based on the project Development of independent movement through tactile and auditory means, implemented at the Institute of Special Education Studies and the Department of Geoinformatics, PalackГЅ University Olomouc, Czech Republic.
